Domaine pieracci
The Pieracci estate is right on the edge of Saint Cyr, so much so, that the building of new houses and apartments appears to be encroaching on the vines themselves! The vineyard isn’t particularly picturesque but this doesn’t reflect the aesthetics of the bottles and wrapping. The Pieracci wines are extremely well presented in long sloping bottles and shocking vermillion labels and boxes.
Pieracci’s appeal doesn’t stop with the packaging. The 2017 rosé that Jean-Pierre opened for us was a probably the lightest and clearest rosé we had tried in Bandol and was made up of 60% mourvèdre, 20% cincault and 20% grenache. The grapes, Jean-Pierre explained, maybe the same as others in the area but it was the detail of picking early in the morning and a cold press of between 14 – 16 degrees that meant a fresher rosé and less coral. And the results were beautiful.
Tried and tasted and purchased the 2017 Pieracci Rosé at €16/bottle.
