Domaine Le Galantin

Situated by the L’Aren river, the cave of Le Galantin was a pleasant surprise behind the somewhat misleading shed-like front door. The clanging of the bottle labelling machine in this family-run business started in 1965 by the parents of our degustation hostess and fusty humid smell of the cave gave authenticity. But the aromas of the cave made it a little difficult to distinguish some of the more delicate notes of the 2017 rosé we tried.

At an affordable price, the wine carried through the low-key charm with a simple scenic label displaying the terraced vineyard and sustaining the theme of a holiday pour. The rosé itself was very pale with the taste surpassing expectations and at a robust 14% alcohol level, would go well with a firmer Provençal repas.

Tried and tasted the Le Galantin 2017 at €10/bottle.

Destination, drop in or drive-by? – Certainly worth dropping in if driving past.
